Working as a nurse for the past 21 years, Denise Hammel has held positions throughout the health care sector, including in a senior home and Alzheimer’s care facility. In recent years, Denise Hammel has been the director of two health care organizations.
Ms. Hammel worked with elderly and Alzheimer’s patients from 2003 to 2018. She was then hired by a rehabilitation organization to serve as a liaison in 2018. In 2021, a New York senior living community hired her as their director of health and wellness. In this role, she oversaw the care of residents, often collaborating with families to troubleshoot issues. Some of her other duties included supervising LPNs and working with physicians and physical/occupational therapists.
Since 2023, Ms. Hammel has overseen a palliative care program at a hospice. Her responsibilities include coordinating in-patient services, educating the community on the benefits of palliative care, and monitoring operational data related to the hospice’s performance. She also oversees the maintenance of electronic health records.
Ms. Hammel’s education and training include an LPN license, an associate’s degree in nursing, and bachelor’s degree in nursing. In her personal time, she enjoys walking, biking, traveling across the country, kayaking, reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends.
